Meet the Dog Behind the Name

Charlie

Charlie turned up at the Longmont shelter four winters back, half grown, covered in burrs, and clearly done with whatever life he'd had before. Three weeks later he was asleep in hi the bed of the truck on the way home from Chautauqua, and that was that.

He answers to Charlie, Chuck, or Mister, depending on how much trouble he's caused that hour. Best guess on breed is Australian Shepherd crossed with something taller and considerably less interested in rules. Vet paperwork just says "mixed" and moves on.

He's not a calm dog. He's a good one. There's a difference, and after four years of trail miles together, I've made peace with it.
